City Futures is the first in a series of short films examining changes to the way we live, work and play. With an urban population of nearly 84%, the UK is a nation of city dwellers around which our society and business has thrived for centuries. Somehow, being squeezed together can make us more creative, collaborative and enterprising - giving our big urban centres the magnetic power to attract talent from around the globe.
But with the rise in home-working and access to superfast communications do we really need to be together in one place? The unprecedented health and economic challenges presented by Covid-19 have catalysed this discussion and in a time where many people can work from anywhere will cities de-populate? Or will the human need for proximity and exchange of ideas mean they adapt and find new ways to thrive?
